Level 2 Gym Instructor
This is your first step into a career within clubs and centres on the gym floor. This qualification is also a pre-requisite for the progression route of a Personal Trainer or Exercise Referral Specialist.
You will cover:
Anatomy of the body including bones, joints, muscle and the cardio-respiratory system
How to design and deliver safe and effective cardiovascular and resistance exercises to clients looking for health improvements, weight loss, muscle gain, endurance and strength gains
Health and Safety requirements
You will be assessed by:
2 x 40 multiple choice question exam
2x worksheets
Completion of a session overview and programme card
Practical assessment
Entry Requirements are an interest in fitness and you must be aged 16 years and over
Level 2 Exercise to Music
This is your first step into a career within the studios of a club or centre or local community as a Group Exercise Instructor. This qualification is also a pre-requisite for the progression route of Professional Studio Instructor or Exercise Referral Specialist.
You will cover:
Anatomy of the body including bones, joints, muscle and the cardio-respiratory system
How to design and deliver safe and effective aerobic and body conditioning classes
Health and Safety requirements
You will be assessed by:
2 x 40 multiple choice question exam
2x worksheets
Completion of choreography notes
Practical assessment
Entry Requirements are an interest in fitness and you must be aged 16 years and over
Level 2 Circuit Training
This course is great for anyone who wishes to increase their earning potential within in a club/centre setting or out in the local community.
You will cover:
How to design a circuit class
Different circuit approaches using a range of cardiovascular and resistance exercises
Teaching skills required to deliver a circuit class safely and effectively
You will be assessed by:

Entry Requirements are Level 2 Gym Instructor or Exercise to Music
Level 3 Nutrition and Weight Management
This course is great for those who wish to offer nutritional advice to clients in the gym or studio environment and for those who wish to complete the Personal Trainer or Exercise Referral Specialist route.
You will cover:
The roles of fat, protein, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals
Individual nutritional requirements depending on your client’s goal
How to interpret food diaries
You will be assessed by:
1 x 40 multiple choice question exam

Core Conditioning 1
This workshop ensures that you understand the key benefits of working the core to receive the best results. This workshop is great for both those working in the gym, studio or client’s home.
Core Conditioning 2
This workshop builds on your existing knowledge of the core. You will focus on the importance of the core muscles in regard to posture and balance. This workshop is must to anyone who wishes to be over a more individualised service to their clients.
Appointed Person First Aid (HSE Approved)
Anybody working in the health and fitness environment should have an up to date first aid certificate. This workshop will cover the typical injuries and incidents that you will find the gym or studio environment.
This qualification needs to be updated every 3 years – first aid refresher course details are available upon request.
